What's on my mind right now? A random stream of consciousness

First off, I want to ball SO HARD to this song. And by ball I don't mean play baseball or basketball or other ball sports. I mean sing it...or dance to it...or something...Ok I'm not really that gangster but I'm absolutely loving this song at the moment!

Okay so secondly, why don't I have this? Actually, who the hell came up with this phone lens?! (Yes people..it's legit!)

I love the new video camera Kurt got me for our anniversary! He knew I was dying for one...so expect some videos in the future! And before the thought comes to your mind....we didn't "put it to use" while celebrating this past weekend...or did we...

Kurt's just getting some B-Roll for our upcoming Porno..I was naked on this dirt road

Kidding! Relax you freak-a-zoids ;-)

I absolutely LOVE the White Mountains. I did flash them....remember?

Sometimes I like to twist my camera lens the whole way so that it's really long and looks like a woody. Then I like to pretend it's my woody.

Lately I've been putting self-tanner on my legs because otherwise I look like I just came out of the womb. Everytime I put it on my legs Kurt tells me it smells like diaper.

I saw this on FaceBook yesterday and LOL'd sooo hard!

My mind has clearly been all over the place but I think you guys can handle it! Happy Tuesday!

5 years later....Kurt's perspective!

*read my perspective here! :)
Five Years - thats over 1800 days. This means I have won the light game that many times - spare for the nights we didnt spend together. This means that I have endured 1800+ episodes of some sort of Teen Mom show, Betheny got married or pregnant, Toddlers in Tiaras, every episode of Real Housewives of Nobody Cares, and countless other reality shows. But I digress, as I have enjoyed the 75+ days of time I have lovingly spent with Erica.

After that much time, I know what pushes her buttons; and her mine. But I also know what cheers her up when she is down. I sometimes dislike some things she does. For example: Once a month when I sit down to watch the 30 minutes of TV she allots me, I can only get about 1/3 of the way through before I need to pause it because she is on her laptop or cell phone watching some video from another blogger, which for some reason always needs to be turned all the way up. And then she laughs so loud that she probably startles the people who live above us. But im always ready for it because I love her.

After 5 years of being together, I know that Erica can't shower without calling for me to come to the door so she can ask me a question that 100% of the time could wait about four minutes. Sometimes she calls me to the door while in the shower just to say I love you. At that point, I can't help but smile.

But seriously. Some of the things she does are just too adorable to not Love. Most of you probably dont know that she is a cheap date (Im not complaining). If we go out, she can usually only have 1 drink. Occasionally she can have 2, if they are small and over the course of 8-10 hours. Well, the other night we went to watch the Patriots game at a bar and she had 2 tall glasses of cranberry and vodka and another short glass of the same. How nice. She was so out of it she was cheering at the replay's not even realizing it.

I love how even after 5 years together, I can still get her the smallest gift or card and she will still shed a happy tear.  So to my girlfriend, Erica Marie, I love you and your cute, crazy, loving self!

PS, her favorite food is lobster. What she saves me in drinks she makes up for in the entree ;-)

Love.... Kurt

5 years later...my perspective!

So Kurt and I have this game we've played for the past 5 years. And for those girls wondering, it's not THAT game hehe!

Anyway, I wish I could tell you how and why it started, all I know is it started in college. Basically it goes like this. Kurt and I will get all ready for bed, and literally race eachother into bed. The reason being we don't want to be the last one to turn off the light. Sounds really lame huh? Well, it gets intense. I'll jump into bed and pull the covers entirely over me indicating I am in fact, in bed and not getting up.

He comes over, rips the covers off, and carries me over to the light switch, while I'm fighting to get out of his grip. He will forcefully push my body into the light switch so it turns off because of me. Basically so he can say that I shut the light. As soon as the light switch goes off, he races into bed, leaving me standing there.

The best part about this is that I can see the two of us playing this game for life. I can see me at 50 years old being carried to the light switch while our kids stare at us like we have 10 heads.

I like to think of our relationship as fun, silly, loving and cutsey, with a little bit of dysfunctional thrown into it. I mean, anyone who doesn't have an argument once in a while, tiny or huge, is riding the fake train in my opinion!

This coming Saturday is the big 5 year anniversary. That's right! 5 years ago on January 28, Kurt and I had a snow day in college. We drove up to Cannon Mountain in the White Mountains of New Hampshire to go skiing for the day.

We got up to the top of the mountain and Kurt stopped me and popped the question! He didn't know it but I had happy tears the entire time we skied down. So sappy, I know, but I was just so happy to be with a guy who was just so great.

So here we are...just about 5 years later!

Some days he drives me absolutely crazy. Other days he makes me cry because of the cute and sweet things he does for me.

He knows all of "my looks."

Aka he knows my look when we are in the car and I have to go to the bathroom. He knows my "oh shit" look when I've messed something up on my computer. He knows my look when I want something. He knows my look for when I need something. He just knows me. And I love that during these past 5 years we have gotten to know each other in such a way beyond just knowing each other's favorite foods. (Kurt's would be pizza, hands down)

We argue over the dumbest things. I've locked myself in bathrooms and cars during fights, attempted to walk home if we fight in public, and cry until I get my way. I can't even begin to tell you how patient Kurt is during my tantrums. He does his best to listen to me, console me, make me feel safe. He puts up with me when I have tempter tantrums in Target (fact) and I put up with him when all he wants to do is play Playstation.

So to my boyfriend, my best friend, my other half, the ying to my yang, the jelly to my peanut butter; I'm so glad to have met you and developed this amazing thing called love. I wouldn't have it any other way! I just LOVE him!

Nice farmers tan and sunglass tan Kurt. ;-)

Hidden talents

You know what's really cool? Having a hidden talent!

A few months ago I did this post about licking my elbow...which is apparantly impossible!! Oh no baby...not if you've got an extra long tongue like miss Erica! haha TMI?

I won't lie that I usually ask everyone I know or meet if they have any fun, interesting hidden talents under their belt! What can I say, stuff like that intrigues me!

So when I saw this over the weekend, I was pretty impressed! I need to learn how to do this!

Do YOU have any hidden talents? Tell me!

The skinny on being skinny

So the other night I was at a wicked intense Zumba class. I mean intense as in my abs feel like they are going to explode out my stomach and I did more kegal exercises than I can handle (seriously...we have to do them for some of the moves in order to make them work hahah)

My instructor said something that really hit me:

If you come to class not wanting to learn and push yourself, you're only punishing yourself

I can't tell you how TRUE this is!  Because I was just like that a few years ago!

Growing up, I was constantly doing sports. Gymnastics, volleyball, soccer, basketball, golf. I was always tiny. Always skinny. And frankly always hated for it.  My metabolism was non-existent. I could eat Chili Cheese Fries from Johnny Rocketts and a hamburger and nothing would happen. Sometimes I'd make Ramen when I got home from school at 3 or 4 PM and then eat dinner at 7 with my family and again, no weight gain!

 Circa highschool

When I got to college my freshman year, I didn't play any sports and figured my metabolism would be on my side. Unfortunately, I gained about 10 pounds during my freshman and sophomore year which doesn't seem like a lot to some, but it was to me, and it showed! I felt disgusting and gross and hated myself. It was the first time in my entire life that I had ever hated something about myself and that was scary. I'd go to the gym and walk on the treadmill for 5 minutes and that was it. Or I'd do 20 situps and then give up. It was pathetic.

I remember driving by the gym one day my sophomore year and it just hitting me. I needed to get back into shape. I worked my butt off sophomore year and lost the 5 pounds, and lost the rest over the summer. I can't tell you how healthy I felt! Plus I was eating better too...no more late night excursions to McDonalds with boyfriends who will never gain a pound (yeah I'm talking to you Kurt!)

Yep that's an entire container of ice cream

If there was one thing I could tell you besides motivation that helped me get rid of those pounds, it was working out. Plain and simple. I went to the gym with my roommates with little cut-out workout cards from Cosmo Magazine (you know those things!?) and tried new workouts. I seeked help and ideas from friends who were athletes. I put headphones in with no music and listened to personal trainers train their trainees (proooobably not allowed but hey!)

But now, as good as I feel about myself, there are still some things that are really devastating to hear:

"You have no reason to work out. You're skinny!"
"If you keep working out you're going to wither away"
"You don't need to be on that treadmill...go eat a big mac"

The only thing I have to say to those people is that I'm being healthy and loving my body! You only get one body...why not treat it right?

So no matter what body type you have, embrace it! Work for it! I don't listen to what people say when they tell me to stop eating a salad and eat a burger. Hey! I happen to like salad! ;-) I'm proud of what I've been able to accomplish with my body and I think if you love your body, you should say so!

Do you love your body?!

Happy Hump Day!
