Ringing in 2014 like a boss!

Happy New Years Eve everyone! A big group of us are ringing in 2014 tonight at Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut! I am beeeeeyond excited. Like, I'm ready to pop a bottle and then pop my booty at the club.

I always tend to come up with resolutions say, 2 months into the new year. Workout 6 days a week instead of 5, stop taking fistfuls of snacks, blah blah. THose are great and all, but honestly, I just want to live a happy, healthy life. Make new friends, learn new things, laugh more, love more, maybe get engaged... ;-) haha! Really though, 2013 has been so good and I cannot wait to see what 2014 has in store!

Happy 2014 friends!!
Bring on the sparkles!
Let's just say, I stressed the hell out over what to wear this year

The time I got an 11 on a math test

Can I tell you guys a secret? Promise you won't laugh, even though I can't stop laughing while I type this.

In 8th grade, I got an 11 on a math test. That's right...an 11 out of 100. An 11 as in, I probably only got points for my name and maybe half a question. It's no surprise that I kind of suck at math.

Yesterday one of my best friends Liz posted something on my Facebook wall about how adults fail a 5th grade math test. Liz and I were both equally bad in math. She got a 4 on a math test, so you know, we are just meant to be friends. We used to sit next to each other in math and rather than pay attention like we should have, we did things such as see who could write the smallest or we'd write out entire songs from the Broadway musical, Wicked or we'd just pass notes to each other.

She posted the article and I took one look at the first question of the test below and had a panic attack; as did Liz. One thing about me and math is that fractions were a no no. I just don't have the math brain!

It's kind of funny to think about. We go through 12+ years of math, and if we don't work with something involving math, how often do we really use it? Sure, we need to add things, figure out tips in restaurants and once in a while need to humor ourselves and figure out if Sally has 5 apples and Billy has 8, how many does the damn dog spot have. I'm happy I have a job where I can just trust excel to figure things out for me.

Are you good at math? Would you pass that test?!
Or better yet...have you gotten an 11 on a test ;-)

A New Years Eve Dilemma and Twerk Talk

By now you've probably heard the phrase "first world problems." Or, its usually tagged #FirstWorldProbz. Let's just abbreviate it to FWP.

I don't normally like to admit when I have a FWP moment because I think it sounds bad, but this one.....oh this one...I just need to share.

This year for New Years Eve we have a big group of us driving down to Connecticut to Mohegan Sun, which is a big ass Casino with tons of restaurant, bars and night clubs. I usually start assessing my New Years Eve outfit in say, November...just to be safe :-)

Anywho, I rarely order clothes from websites that aren't physical stores. I like to try things on beforehand, especially because I have barely any boobs so things look different on a model than me! I came across this dress a while back and fell. in. love. Something about New Years Eve makes me want to feel sexxay, but keep it classy at the same time. And this was just what I was in search of.

I bought this dress and checked my mail every single day until it finally came! I tried it on and it was as if I was auditioning for a porn. The dress fit everywhere perfectly except for one minor detail-my cheeks were poppin' out like they had their own zip code.

The model was 2 inches taller than me, so I convinced myself the next size up would be perfect. I returned the dress and waited for the same dress in the next size. Monday I received the new one...new size...but different color. I slipped it on and turned around to look in the mirror. The middle was too big, the chest was too big, and to make matters worse, it was still the SAME LENGTH! My bootay was still showing if I moved the slightest. What gives!

Now that NYE is just a few weeks away, I'm struggling to find something! I'm also struggling to understand why I dedicated an entire blog post to this. Years down the road when I'm trying to hold a bottle up to one kid while getting another kid ready for school, I'll read this post and call myself an idiot and say "you should have just went to Forever 21."

To end on a completely random note, much to my surprise, my zumba class just start to learn how to "split twerk" (seen below) and I have to admit, it's hard...and painful if you catch my drift!

47 Layer Party Dip

I love dip. Not the type people stick in their lips or cheeks and spit into Poland Spring bottles but...food dip! I honestly find excuses to dip things into things. Hamburgers dipped into various sauces? Hell yes. Bread dipped into leftover pasta sauce on a plate? Only if I didn't lick it clean first. Ooooo YUM.

A co-worker showed my this yesterday...this, is a 47 layer party dip. Is this for real!? After seeing it though, I feel like I am being challenged to make it. Perhaps, Superbowl? Could I handle this? Actually, do I even have a bowl big enough for this?

Completely awestruck, amazed, disgusted and hungry looking at this
I would imagine my stomach looking like it was about to produce quadruplets after eating it

Anyway, now that I've either made you hungry, throw up or run to your nearest grocery store, let's back that ass up because it's been a hot minute since I've done so!

Because it's been so long, I thought I'd come with something hot. R. Kelly...he's a bit of a has been, but seriously produced some hot beats back in the day; Ignition? Same Girl? Yes! Now, he's debuting with a new album called "Black Panties." Automatic baby-making music right hurrr, including this jam which I've been loving! Have a listen ya heard? And link up with Whitney!

Happy weekend everyone! My friends and I are having an ugly sweater "friendsmas" party this weekend and I am beyond excited for it! :-)

That time I didn't blog for a week!

Knock Knock little blog!
Who’s there?
Erica
Erica Who?
Erica the writer of this blog!
Erica…who?

For real guys, I honestly just needed a hot minute away from blogging! Maybe it was that work suddenly went crazy busy? Or maybe it was just because I suddenly became absolutely addicted to watching The Walking Dead and doing nothing else? Well in any case, I’m back!

It feels good to be typing again in this space. I wish I had something so cool to share, like, I got engaged or I’m pregnant with quintuplets, or I’m suddenly nominated for Time Magazine’s Person of the Year. Speaking of which, did you see how a bunch of important global people are nominated, and amongst those, Miley Cyrus? Go girl!

I've feasted on a variety of things....no joke. I went to look through my phone pictures over the last week or so and the majority was food! When in Rome, right? Or....when winter comes and it's freezing, eat lots and lots.

Other than that, it's Christmas crunch time! Time to buckle down and BUY ALL THE GIFTS! Also, it's time to suffer panic attacks at the mall with crazed, enraged shoppers looking to get the latest deals on Yankee Candles, Clarisonics and Hunter Boots (I've seen it!!)

Happy Tuesday pretty people!

Gobble till you Wobble...or twerk!

Tomorrow is the day.
Tomorrow is the day I will face plant into stuffing.
Tomorrow is the day I will eat the delicious crispy skin of a turkey.
Tomorrow is the day I will eat many other things.
Tomorrow is also the day I will wear leggings.

Last year for Thanksgiving I made these rice krispie turkeys. How cute are they?
They also got drunk off of Sambuca!

I don't know what it is about Thanksgiving, but being in my home I grew up in just makes me feel all warm and happy! I know it's cliche, but really, what's better than being around your family with the most amazing smells wafting from the kitchen and just being able to relax and eat food? Needless to say, I am SO excited :-)

Now that I've gone all Danielle Steele on you guys, let me introduce you to this video that's been circulating my Facebook feed. If this isn't inspiration to wake your ass up the morning after Thanksgiving and work that tushy, I don't know WHAT is! PS. I first heard this song in a club one night in Boston and I was like damn...I just want to booty drop to this (so I may have...) but these girls just trump it! And it's choreographed. What could be better?

Warning. Lots of sexy bootys in booty shorts.

Well on that note, I'm off to twerk my way out of work early into the kitchen to bake a chocolate cake and get prepared for tonight's festivities! Every year the night before Thanksgiving my girlfriends and I do a lil bar crawl. It's kind of a "thing" around here! Is that common where you are all from as well?! I'm excited! :-)

I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving if you celebrate! I am so thankful for so many things including all of you guys who keep coming back here to see what sort of jibber jabber comes out of my mouth. Have the most amazing day in the world!

When you're drunk in front of your significant other

We've all been there, haven't we? Unless of course you don't drink which is completely A-Okay! But if you do....you've been there! Is this a good time for me to tell you guys that story about when Kurt got so drunk one night in college with me, he puked in a plastic grocery bag and then swung it around his head, spinnin' it like a helicopter Petey Pablo style?

I can't tell you how many times Kurt has either taken a photo or me or recorded a video of my jibber jabber when I've had a bit too much to drink. One night we went to a mexican place for dinner, I had a few margs and apparently did Zumba in our driveway. Another night I think I laughed so hard trying to explain something to Kurt that I just couldn't put into words what I actually wanted to say. Oy Vey...

The other day I came across a video that I must have watched 10 times because it was just so cute and funny. This guy recorded his drunken wife telling him a really silly joke, and then made the joke, using her voice/joke into an animation. I just HAVE to share it with you guys! I picture this woman laying down on the couch with her empty wine glass trying to explain this joke to her husband.

Hope this brightens up your Tuesday :-)

My Big Fat Disney World Recap!

Here I am, better late than never, with my Disney World recap! I can't tell you how many people welcomed us home with the question "did you get engaged?" It must have been set in their mind that Kurt would propose to me on Main Street...or in front of the Tree of Life...or in front of the Epcot ball....or while we dropped 13 stories on the Tower of Terror. Engagement or not, we had THE best 10 days in the entire world!

Don't worry, I won't go day by day of what we did...everyone likes more pictures anyway, right! But honestly...Disney World is SO beautiful this time of year because the parks all decorate for Christmas!

We went to Disney from November 7th to the 16th, and as you know, ran our half marathon on November 9th! We talked about whether we wanted to do our race at the beginning or at the end of our trip. It took about .02 seconds to decide we didn't want to stress over it the whole week so we did it first! I am so glad we did.

For the first three days of our trip, we stayed at Disney's Caribbean Beach Hotel which is a very nice resort that we've stayed in before. However our ideal location when we go to Disney is the Epcot resorts (yacht/beach club and Boardwalk) because you can walk or take a boat to both Epcot and Hollywood Studios. Primo! But because the Caribbean Beach was a race host resort, we stayed there to ensure transportation to the race! After our three nights there, we actually moved to the Boardwalk Hotel right by Epcot and Hollywood Studios! It is a beautiful place, don't you think? :-)

Our first few days of Disney we actually spent with Kurt's older sister Janine who was down there at the same time as us which was a lot of fun! We spent some of the days at the parks with her and went to some dinners together!

I think you all know how much Kurt and I love Disney World. He grew up going there, I grew up going there and it just makes us so happy. The planning, the parks, the rides, the magic, the food--it's absolutely magical! I always try and convince people, especially adults, that it is as just as fun for adults to go as it is for kids. We always go crazy when we go to Disney. We save up for months so we eat at  as many different restaurants as we can, buy things and just let loose! Disney just makes us feel 7 years old again.

I'd also like to tell you all that this particular trip, we met a LOT of characters :-) Kurt was SOO excited about this let me tell you! Let's take a look, shall we?! Every Minnie loved Kurt, by the way.

Oh how I LOVE meeting characters! It seriously is a blast....they are SO funny! Especially when you think about the people playing them and how they must feel. I saw a little boy try to rip off poor Mickey's nose and a little girl try to grab Pluto's ear. hahaha!! It's also amazing how in character the real life characters are (not the costumed ones). The princesses talk just like they do in the movies, and Gaston...ohhh he was absolutely hilarious!

We went to all four parks, multuple times, and even took a teeeeensy trip to Universal Studios while we were there because, why not?! I can never decide which park I love the best, as I love them all, but if I had to choose, the Magic Kingdom---I mean, that's what everyone thinks of when they think Disney World!

I could go on and on about Disney, y'all know that right?! :-) I do wanna save one last piece for later this week, which is Mickey's Very Merry Christmas party! Let me just say, it snows on Main Street. IT SNOWS! :-)
