Playing tourist

I've lived right outside of Boston for 23 years and I don't think I could ever get sick of my city.

Yesterday Kurt and I walked around Boston and I dragged along Candy (my camera; yeah we're on a first name basis here!)

I have to admit. When I see people lugging around giant SLR cameras and camera bags and lenses and lens cleaners and shirts that say I HAVE A CAMERA (just kidding about that last part), I automatically assume they aren't from here. Then I usually try and listen for a cool accent. But then I look down at myself holding my own camera. Well, shit. I live here. I'm not visiting. I just love my city!

Sometimes it's fun to play tourist. To walk around and see parts of your home that you normally walk past or never notice. You live where you live, why not make the best of it? I am so happy my city has so much beauty, history, and energy! Boston never disappoints!

The first time Kurt's parents came up to visit us, we gave them the grand tour. We were headed into the Boston Common and we smelled something distinct. It got closer. And then I got the munchies so bad I ate the shirt off Kurt's back. It was HEMPFEST. People were just chillin, smokin' doobies like nobody's business. Guitars were a-strummin, and people were living life.

Let me tell ya, it was a pretty interesting way to introduce them to Boston but nonetheless, they fell in love.

I think Boston has that effect to it. You come here, and you love it. But then again, I could just be susceptible to beautiful cities. Case and point; Austin and Columbus. Went to both cities this past year and just fell in loooove!

Do you ever play tourist in your own city?

Friday's Letters: I'm on a boat! (an edible one)

Sorry for photo quality! Mr Sailboat with Mrs. Tinfoil weren't in a photogenic mood :-)

Dear Betty Crocker:
Your cakes are so damn cool! I made the one above for my boss' surprise birthday party at work today. He is a sailboat lover! Dear Kurt: Sorry for the multiple temper tantrums that ensued from baking this cake. Dear Daddy: Happy Father's Day this Sunday! I am sooo appreciative of you and everything you've done for us! Dear Apartment: Pick up after yourself why don't ya! You're a messy son of a beach. Dear Snooki and Jwow: I am overjoyed to watch your new show. And so is Kurt! Shh...don't tell him I told ya's. Dear first credit card: I successfully paid your first bill! Woo! I'm a grownup! Dear Life: Slooooow down baby!

Link up with the lovely Ashley for Friday's Letters!

Thoughts Right Now...

Happy Hump Day! I didn't work Monday so I keep thinking today is Tuesday which I guess is good. Why can't work weeks be 4 days long? Or even 1 day long? Can I retire yet? Anyway, I'm going to ramble.

Last night I made my pretty friend Katie's 4-bean chilly. Yes its 85 degrees. Yes its June. Yes I sweat my balls off. But damn I am sooo thankful Katie shared this recipe. It's delicious and takes less than 1 hour.

Every night I take at least 20 minutes to creep through some clothing websites. Bookmark things I want to buy. Bookmark things I want to buy but never will because I can't pull it off. Bookmark things that are fierce as HELL. Like this. I know that if I ever stepped out of my room in this outfit for a date with Kurt or to go out with my friends, they'd look at me like I transformed into Lil Wayne. But how hot is this outfit?

A few months ago, Sabrina gave me this camera and I am in love with it. How cool is it? Obsessed. How awesome and sweet is she? 1000000%. Love that mamacita!

I have been thinking of cool things to do with my little polaroids that emerge from the top. Kurt loves a good project, so I might have him help me make these little magnets!

Kurt was home in New Jersey for a few days and got back yesterday. I was at work when he got home, but baked him brownies and got him a congratulations card to be all cute for getting promoted. Gotta keep things spicy, ya dig? He enjoyed my brownies...

Have a fantastic day!!
