So Kurt and I have this game we've played for the past 5 years. And for those girls wondering, it's not THAT game hehe!
Anyway, I wish I could tell you how and why it started, all I know is it started in college. Basically it goes like this. Kurt and I will get all ready for bed, and literally race eachother into bed. The reason being we don't want to be the last one to turn off the light. Sounds really lame huh? Well, it gets intense. I'll jump into bed and pull the covers entirely over me indicating I am in fact, in bed and not getting up.
He comes over, rips the covers off, and carries me over to the light switch, while I'm fighting to get out of his grip. He will forcefully push my body into the light switch so it turns off because of me. Basically so he can say that I shut the light. As soon as the light switch goes off, he races into bed, leaving me standing there.
The best part about this is that I can see the two of us playing this game for life. I can see me at 50 years old being carried to the light switch while our kids stare at us like we have 10 heads.
I like to think of our relationship as fun, silly, loving and cutsey, with a little bit of dysfunctional thrown into it. I mean, anyone who doesn't have an argument once in a while, tiny or huge, is riding the fake train in my opinion!
This coming Saturday is the big 5 year anniversary. That's right! 5 years ago on January 28, Kurt and I had a snow day in college. We drove up to Cannon Mountain in the White Mountains of New Hampshire to go skiing for the day.
We got up to the top of the mountain and Kurt stopped me and popped the question! He didn't know it but I had happy tears the entire time we skied down. So sappy, I know, but I was just so happy to be with a guy who was just so great.
So here we are...just about 5 years later!
Some days he drives me absolutely crazy. Other days he makes me cry because of the cute and sweet things he does for me.
He knows all of "my looks."
Aka he knows my look when we are in the car and I have to go to the bathroom. He knows my "oh shit" look when I've messed something up on my computer. He knows my look when I want something. He knows my look for when I need something. He just knows me. And I love that during these past 5 years we have gotten to know each other in such a way beyond just knowing each other's favorite foods. (Kurt's would be pizza, hands down)
We argue over the dumbest things. I've locked myself in bathrooms and cars during fights, attempted to walk home if we fight in public, and cry until I get my way. I can't even begin to tell you how patient Kurt is during my tantrums. He does his best to listen to me, console me, make me feel safe. He puts up with me when I have tempter tantrums in Target (fact) and I put up with him when all he wants to do is play Playstation.
So to my boyfriend, my best friend, my other half, the ying to my yang, the jelly to my peanut butter; I'm so glad to have met you and developed this amazing thing called love. I wouldn't have it any other way! I just LOVE him!
Nice farmers tan and sunglass tan Kurt. ;-)
