What would you do in this sitiatuion?

Have you ever seen the show, What Would You Do? on ABC? Basically, it's a hidden camera show where they put ordinary people on the spot by having actors act out situations of racism, bullying, verbal abuse, etc  in front of customers and patrons to see if anyone steps in and says something.

For example, I saw an episode where a deaf teenager went to apply for a job at a restaurant. The manager told her he would never hire a deaf person so she shouldn't bother applying, etc etc. Both were actors, but the point was to see if the ordinary people intervened and stood up for the girl.

It's a very powerful show! And surprising to see that not many people intervene. Some walk out, some agree with the actors, but then there are those who DO intervene. I'm envious of those people, because I really don't know if I could say something even though I'd 100% want to.

I had a moment like this yesterday at the gym. Our gym has two sections of machines that are used for full body training, meaning you go from one machine to the next and do one set on each machine. Well, sometimes people get cranky if they see someone doing more than one set on a machine, so they'll HOVER over them until they get off.

So Yesterday I saw a bitchy woman walk up to a machine that a teenage boy was on. He was doing more than one set, but the gym was EMPTY. It looked like she was ready to rip him a new one, so what did I do? I paused my iPod and kept my headphones in so I could creep.

 (I'm creepin)

Bitchy woman- excuse me, you cant do more than one set on these, Do you see me waiting
Teenager- okay I just have a few more reps
Bitchy woman- yes but clearly I am waiting..you need to get off right now
Teenager continues to do his reps
Bitchy woman- GET OFF THE MACHINE
Teenagers friend comes and gets him

I literally just glared at the woman and wanted to say something to her along the lines of this:

Excuse me BITCH, if you got the stick out of your ass and turned around, you'd
see that another exact same machine is empty. We all pay the same membership
so we should all get to do as we please. Bitch Face.

But I didn't! I didn't say a word, and instead I just gave her bitchy looks. I know this doesn't sound like a  very serious situation, but I felt bad for the kid and wish I would have stuck up for him. It kills me now knowing I just let her yell at him in front of everyone.

Have you guys ever stepped in and said something in a situation you overheard?

Florida Shenanigans

Phew! It's been a whirlwind of a week, but I just wanted to thank ALL of you for being so supportive of everything that's been going on! I truly am thankful!

Oh..and a special shout-out to Shalyn and Sabrina who I cried laughing over these past few days as they texted me awesome videos and pics of themselves being awesome. It really cheered me up!

Just a lil catch-up with you guys! I went to Florida last week with Kurt's family and let me just say, I want to move there. Minus the 100 degree, hair frizzing, sticky skin feeling, sunburns.

We hit up universal, harry potter world, islands of adventure, and busch gardens! Oh and Harry Potter World? Holy amazing! I bought chocolate frogs, every flavored jelly beans, and a $100 Hogwarts Robe. Kidding about the robe!

I expressed my deepest love, desire, and need for this Minnie Mouse apron. Granted it was $30, I still wanted (no, I NEEDED it) But I am a cheap asshole and didn't buy it for myself. And my constant "oh I love this!" or "I can just imagine myself baking in this like a little housewife" didn't budge Kurt..hmmph.

We took a day off from the parks and hit up the pool. Which had like, 5 poolside bars, which of course meant I had to get a drink. So there I was with Kurt's fam, gettin a bit tipsy. Nothing they haven't seen before as they know I am a whimp when it comes to drinking! I need help!

When I drink I like to do split leaps and leg kicks. I have no idea why BUT...get a few drinks in me and you'll see it for sure!

Kurt laughed at me because I couldn't get on the hammocks that surrounded the pool. He had some trouble himself, after drinking two 30 ounce razzle dazzles.

Oh hot damn, check out that sexy man thigh. GROWWWLL!

I have a bunch more Florida pics that I don't want to flood y'all with! And Kurt apologizes for not being in many photos. (actually I apologize for him) He is cranky when it comes to my picture taking habit ;-)

That's all I have for you guys today. WAIT. How can I forget my main squeeze Weezy? Three words. EFFING AMAZING CONCERT.

See that shirt? I saw weezy wearing it at the Grammy's a few years ago and had to have it the next day, so I did! #weezy-please-notice-im-a-true-fan

Love you guys!

Sometimes life is hard....(and a confession)

It's been a tough few days....

When my parents picked up Kurt and I from the airport on Saturday afternoon, my dad got out of the car and came running to me and said my grandfather passed away. I looked up at him stunned and then over to my mom, who was coming out of the car crying. It was her father...and she had just been getting used to the death of her mother (my grandmother) who died 4 months ago.

It was sudden. He was not sick. He fell in the middle of the night and was taken to the hospital where they said he had a hurt hip. He was supposed to be released the next day or 2, but something went wrong with his kidneys overnight and there was nothing anyone could do. He was 90 and sharp as a tack, and had the best sense of humor.  None of us were expecting it and to be honest, it still has not even hit me yet that he is gone. It's not fair. We weren't ready for this.

my grandfather and sis were trying to ring my arm with his cane!
And don't you love his shades? He had had a small eye surgery a couple days before this.

The only thing keeping me positive is the fact that the day he died was also his wife's birthday. I'm just trying to think that maybe my grandmother didn't want to spend her birthday alone in heaven.

******

I don't usually like to be so down on my blog, but I think it's helpful to share how you feel...happy or sad...and the amount of support I get from all of you is just SO amazing. I truly love you all! I'll leave you with something a little more upbeat. I didn't confess with Rissy last week because I had a group of AMAZING guest posters. I love all of you ladies!

I confess...I have jury duty tomorrow and am both nervous/excited that I will be put on this
crazy murder case like Whitey Bulger or something (yeah right) But my luck I'll be
put on a case about some lady who stole her boyfriend's couch

I confess...I promise to show and share my trip to Florida with you guys

I confess...I went to the Lil Wayne concert last night and got a contact high
from all the pot being smoked around us. I had the munchies when I got home.

I confess...I'm getting too used to being unemployed. I need to
get back on the jobsearch bandwagon.

What do you have to confess? Link up with my good pal Rissy and let everyone know! :-)
